Sustainability

Energy transition and decarbonisation for businesses that have to fund it out of operating margin.

Decarbonisation advice written for large corporates does not transfer to a 40-person manufacturer. The capital is not there, the reporting function is not there, and the payback period that a listed company can absorb is one an SME cannot.

We work on the version of this problem that small and mid-sized businesses actually have.

Who this is for

  • Small and mid-sized industrial and logistics businesses beginning an energy transition
  • Exporters facing carbon-related requirements from their buyers or destination markets
  • Cooperatives and producers in sectors where environmental credentials affect market access
  • Programmes and institutions supporting cleantech and green industry

What we do

Establish the baseline. Energy and emissions measurement first. A decarbonisation plan built on estimates is a decarbonisation plan that cannot be defended to a buyer, a bank or an auditor.

Sequence the transition. Efficiency measures that pay back inside an SME’s tolerance come before capital-intensive substitutions. The order matters more than the ambition, because the early savings are what fund the later phases.

Green trade and market access. Increasingly, environmental compliance is a trade barrier in practice, whether or not it is called one. Where a client’s export markets are imposing carbon requirements, this work connects directly to trade facilitation — it is the reason our vision names green trade specifically.

Workshops and transfer. Sustainability fails when it lives with one person. We run practical sessions that give operational staff the tools and the vocabulary to keep it moving, delivered the same way as the rest of our training.

How an engagement runs

Measurement, then a prioritised roadmap with costs and payback periods attached, then support through the first phase. Every recommendation carries a number. If we cannot put a number on it, we say so rather than presenting it as strategy.

Most engagements start with a problem that does not yet have a clean name. You do not need a brief, a budget or a defined scope to begin the conversation.
